Why these exams?
Exams serve as a key method for evaluating student progress and performance. They are also crucial in making decisions about hiring, certification, and promotions in academic or career paths. Exams help teachers measure students' progress, giving a broad overview of their development. Some students may struggle due to poor reading comprehension or difficulty understanding exam questions, despite knowing the material.
Mock exams are modeled after official exams, using similar guidelines. They are designed to provide students with a simulation of the real examination, offering insights into their weaknesses before the final test.
Reviewing past exam papers helps students recognize patterns in questions and better understand how real exams are structured. This practice is invaluable for preparing for major exams, such as those administered by NECTA.
NECTA, established in 1973 by Parliamentary Act No. 21, is responsible for overseeing all national exams in Tanzania. The council was formed after Tanzania withdrew from the East African Examinations Council in 1971 to create its own national examination system. NECTA is responsible to all kind of exams administered in the country through its working bodies in and outside the council. It may be seeming like Mock are just regional or zonal exams, but they must follow the NECTA guidelines for it to qualify to be called official exam(s).
